Duties and Responsibilities: Pharmacist prepare medication by reviewing and interpreting physician orders; detecting therapeutic incompatibilities. Dispense medications by compounding, packaging, and labeling pharmaceuticals. Controls medications by monitoring drug therapies; advising interventions. They completes pharmacy operational requirements by organizing and directing technicians' work flow; verifying their preparation and labeling of pharmaceuticals; verifying order entries, charges, and inspections.
Salary: $116,670
Education: To become a pharmacists you will need a Doctor of Pharmacy degree. To be accepted into a Pharm.D. program, students must first complete a pre-professional track that is typically two years in length and includes scientific courses in biology, chemistry, physics, anatomy, and physiology. Foundational courses in pharmaceutical practices may also be included.
Demand for this profession: The demand for this trained pharmacy professionals has increased in past years due to rapid grow in healthcare and pharmaceutical industries, especially for the growing elderly population. The number of pharmacists in healthcare services is also growing, as pharmacists who pursue additional graduate study and residency experience have greater mobility within the profession including areas of research, administration and business.
