Responsibility: They are supposed to communicate orally in the English language
with the public and co-workers in face to face one on one setting or using a
telephone. Obtain and act on information quickly and accurately in any
emergency situations. They understand and follow oral and written instructions
in English language.
Salary:
$36,300 in May 2012
Education:
Most of the ambulance dispatchers have at least a high school diploma. Some
states want adopted training guidelines for emergency and ambulance dispatchers
to ensure a set of uniform standards are followed. Some states also require
them to be certified and could provide credentials through the State Department
Reflection:
I wouldn’t want to be an ambulance dispatcher because they have too much around
them. So many screens and I wouldn’t be able to deal with that. They have to
take many calls also and I wouldn’t be able to take that many calls because I
hate talking on the phone.
